Clem "Junior' Edwards amassed a superb soccer career. He started his organized soccer career at 12 years of age and was still playing after 39 years in the Masters. He won his first championship when St. Lawrence defeated Lawn; Edwards was selected as the MVP. He was a member of 15 St. Lawrence teams that won the Burin Peninsula championship.

His early ability was such that he earned a spot on the powerful 1968 St. Lawrence Laurentians at the age of 15. While with the team, Edwards was selected as provincial Challenge Cup MVP five times and played a valuable role in the ten provincial Challenge Cup titles captured by the St. Lawrence Laurentians in the 1970's which resulted in them being voted provincial team of the decade.

At the national level, Edwards played on ten St. Lawrence teams in National Challenge Cup competition. During that period, the team captured two silver medals and an Eastern Canadian championship.

Edwards was selected for a tryout for the 1974 Canadian National team and played with the team in an international tournament in Bermuda.

He was a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador All-star team that played in the 1970 National Challenge Cup competition and was captain of the 1973 Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Summer Games team. Edwards was a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador bantam All-star team that played in the Expo '67 tournament in Montreal; he was selected MVP of the competition.

Since completing his senior playing career, mid-fielder Edwards has been a member of ten St. Lawrence teams that have won provincial masters championships. Edwards started coaching at the local St. Lawrence minor level in 1969 at the age of 16. In 1980, he began a 27-year provincial coaching contribution that has been extremely important for local and provincial soccer. His most successful coaching contribution was with the St. Lawrence Laurentians, helping the team win eight provincial senior championships during the 1990's, including the latest Challenge Cup title in 2002.

He also coached the St. Lawrence Laurentians to two Eastern Canadian gold medal championships for the Masters 2006 and 2007.

In 2004, Edwards coached the St. Lawrence Under 14 boys team and the Burin Peninsula boys team for the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games.

He served as Chair of the St. Lawrence Soccer Association and the St. Lawrence Minor Soccer Parents Association.

Edwards is a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Hall of Fame, the Burin Peninsula Soccer Hall of Fame, and the St. Lawrence Soccer Hall of Fame.
